Battery Safety 101 - What everyone should know...
ALKALINE
- Keep batteries cool and dry.
- Always replace the whole set of batteries at the one time.
- Always replace batteries with the exact type and size specified for your equipment.
- Fit batteries into equipment by observing the + and – signs on the equipment.
- Never carry batteries loose in a pocket or kit. Standard packaging is designed to keep the batteries separated, to avoid short circuits.
- Never deliberately short circuit batteries.
- Always remove batteries from equipment after use.
NICKEL CADMIUM (NiCAD) & Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH)
Nickel Cadmium (NiCAD) and Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries are rechargeable and require special safety procedures.
- Do not install unless battery is clean and dry.
- Do not disassemble batteries or cells as they can cause respiratory damage.
- Do not allow electrolyte(s) to contact skin or eyes.
- Do not store battery terminals together.
- Always follow procedures for battery analysis and charging exactly as per Operators Handbook.
- All NiCAD or NiMH Batteries must be recycled. (Ask your sales representative about RecyclePak)
